Our kids have the biggest and richest imagination so it is only fair to ensure them one playful, fun and magical room where they can safely grow up. The best way to decorate your kid’s room is to do everything yourself, and even let them help you create their personal space that they will enjoy.
Kid’s rooms can get quite messy, with toys and clothes all over the place. To prevent that you need to find new and fun ways of storing their things, and encourage them to be diligent. For example, set up a hammock in one corner of the room, and tell them it is only for storing plush toys; for plastic figurines they often play with you can reserve a colorful plastic bucket.
If you need creative space for their craft materials, you can set up a few decorative boxes at their desks or on low shelves, and make materials accessible but organized. And if you want to make your kids’ room more spacious and organized, you can always opt for some under the bed storage bins and label them.
Put up some Shelves
Another easy and smart way of preserving space in your kid’s room and making it more fun is installing creative shelves. If you have a couple of extra branches in your garden, you can make them useful and make branch swing shelves perfect for your kid’s room. All you have to do is drill couple of holes big enough to put rope through them and voila! You have a unique decoration and place for storing all of your kid’s favorite plush toys.
Also, if you little boy adores superheroes and likes collecting action figures, you should give those unique Sideshow Collectibles a special place in this room. Build an ordinary shelf reserved only for displaying Batman and Star Wars figurines or you can put them up on creative shelves made out of spare skateboards your child has. Another great idea for unique shelving is using old wooden pallets and crates and turning them into a shelf for your kids’ sneakers, or you can use that leftover rain gutters and turn them into a fun bookshelf.
Fun DIY Lighting
You do not have to spend a fortune on expensive chandeliers and lamps for your children’s’ room. They do not care about that minimalistic and metal stuff. They need something colorful and fun in what they can completely enjoy.
Create your own fixtures by making some paper lanterns, for example. Decorate them together and put them over some ordinary lamp and your kids will enjoy the new atmosphere in their room. Also, you can turn old globes into decorative lamps, by cutting them in half and putting over a light bulb on the ceiling. Another fun idea is simply decorating paper cups they way your children want and turning them into unique lamps.
Art with Letters
For decorating the walls you do not have to go with old fashioned wallpapers and photos. Instead, decorate the walls with fun letter art. All you need is some cardboard, fabrics in various patterns and colors and some glue. Cut out the letters, glue the fabrics over the cardboard and spell out your kids’ names above their bed.
Also, with these letters you can write some inspirational quotes, interesting lines from their favorite book, or the names of their favorite characters. Talk to your kids and see what they would like to read on their wall every day, and get to work.
There are numerous fun ideas for decorating your kids’ room. You just have to know what your little loved ones would like having there and you are all set. Make this decorating an enjoyable family project that everyone will simply love.
